The National Gas Regulator Entity (ENARGAS) informed that the General Cerri Plant, operated by Transportadora de Gas del Sur S.A (TGS), is out of service due to the storm affecting the city of Bahía Blanca, in the province of Buenos Aires.
In an official statement, the agency assured that gas supply for priority demand, which includes homes, hospitals, schools, and businesses, is guaranteed. In light of this situation, ENARGAS took two measures within the framework of the Current Dispatch Guidelines.
One of the measures involved switching electricity generation from gas to liquid fuels in order to preserve electrical supply. On the other hand, gas use for services that can be interrupted was restricted when deemed useful.
The entity indicated that it is monitoring the situation in collaboration with the Secretariat of Energy of the Ministry of Economy, TGS, and TGN, in order to restore normal gas supply at the plant as soon as possible.
